Is Orchid software open source?

We've built Orchid using open source tools: php, mysql, smarty. There are few things that are 3rd party proprietary tools - payment processing, some charts and and graphs.

That said Orchid itself is not open source per se tho we do open source to our clients and encourage that kind of participation.

What technical skills do I need to use Orchid?

Orchid is intended to be used by individuals who feel comfortable using the computer and familiar with a variety of computer programs. It is a system that offers a lot for both basic and advanced users. There is a learning curve. However, like any program, if you use the support services available and are willing to jump in and try, you can do it.

How often do you release updates to the OS system?

We try to update the Orchid system once every 6-8 weeks. In each release we add features and improve usability. The updates are automatically installed. You do not have to do anything other than enjoy the improvements! We continue to work to offer a strong product. However, we can't know what you need unless you tell us. Please feel free to send us your feedback.

What design options do I have with Orchid?

The look and feel of the sites is driven by Cascading Style Sheets or CSS. Someone with CSS skills can create a design for your site or we can design it for you or you. Once it is done, you can modify typestyles, colors and graphics using the advanced stylesheet option.

What kind of support can I expect from Orchid?

Orchid Suites provides a variety of support including lead generation, training, technical support, design application, and helpdesk. For example, as a reseller, you can choose to direct users to our central support page or use your own support interface with your clients and only send support requests to Orchid Suites when you need it. These kinds of arrangements can be made either during the contract phase or set up when you need it.

Once a partner, how do I get started using Orchid for my business?

Our service is divided into three areas: training, branding (marketing), and technical support. Basics in each of the areas are included in the standard licensing. You can also choose to add more services to your license agreement or choose services a la carte along the way depending on your needs. Once you sign on and determine the level of service you need, you will receive introductory training, materials that will help you sell Orchid to your clients and a certain number of support hours.

Can I use information from your web site to promote Orchid?

Yes. You can use any information we make available in a special section of our website under Reseller Info Material. If you'd like more information or would like to use information from other sections of our site, please don't hesitate to ask.

What methods of payments do you accept from resellers?

We accept all payment methods—credit card, bank transfer, check, cash. We have an online billing system where you can go to review your account and make payments.

You can always check our Web site, www.orchidsuites.net under "resellers" for the most up-to-date information The information posted there is the "definitive edition" of version, license, and pricing information. We also always notify our resellers ahead of time about any changes in pricing.
